Autumn beauty ritual, how to optimize hydration
By Claire Andréewitch, naturopath, specialized in skin health.
To optimize the beauty ritual during this change of season, let's talk about appropriate care and precise gestures.
Because it's one thing to choose the right active ingredients and the right textures, but it's another to apply them correctly to have beautiful, healthy skin!
Today, I give you my best tips for hydrating the skin more deeply for this change of season. Because when autumn arrives, the skin dries out... which we want to avoid at all costs to preserve our skin. Properly hydrated skin is healthier skin that defends itself better against external aggressions.
The gestures are just as important as the treatments themselves, which is why I always remain very gentle when handling the skin, I massage the face a lot, and I apply the treatments in a certain way (for example, always upwards!), and of course in a precise order to optimize results.
Then, the essential thing to remember when taking care of your skin? Find a routine that you LOVE. Loving the products, the gestures and the time you take for yourself. Even if it's 5 minutes, why not light a candle or listen to music at the same time? Make this moment sacred to yourself. Bringing another PRESENCE and “attitude” to that moment not only changes everything about your experience, but this allows you to stay consistent - the number 1 gesture to obtain real results for the skin.
Consider the following key actions:
1/ Do not take showers that are too long and too hot
2/ Apply your treatments directly after the shower and do not wait to directly encapsulate and preserve hydration
3/ Drink and EAT your water in addition to drinking it. Foods rich in water provide better hydration from the inside, so raw fruits and vegetables every day.
4/ Then the detail that changes everything: the hyaluronic acid serum before the day and evening cream. Layering is the most effective way to encapsulate hydration.
5/ Continue to exfoliate gently to remove dead cells, which allows for better hydration afterwards. A facial scrub 1-2 times a week and only in the evening.
So here is my morning and evening routine to optimize hydration during this change of season. The order of care is very important, because it involves sizes of molecules and compatibility between them.
01. MY MORNING ROUTINE
1/ Simple cleansing with an ultra-gentle product (milk or makeup remover oil) – just floral water in the morning is not enough unless you have ULTRA dry skin
2/ Thermal or floral water to restore the pH, and immediately soothe the skin after rinsing
3/ Apicia sebum-regulating serum
4/ Eye contour
5/ Apicia anti-aging day care or if the skin is drier the Apicia anti-aging night treatment (which can also be applied in the morning!) which is my personal favorite
6/ SPF 30-50 sun protection to encapsulate everything and act as a global shield to avoid dehydration caused by UV rays, pollution, etc. (yes even in winter!)
02. MY EVENING ROUTINE
1/ DOUBLE cleansing – take the time to massage yourself for 1-2 minutes per pass with a cleansing oil and then Apicia ultra-gentle soap
2/ Thermal or floral water
3/ Apicia sebum-regulating serum
4/ Eye contour
5/ Apicia anti-aging night treatment
6/ When the skin needs more love, add 2 drops of Apicia Dry Oil at the end (heated between the hands and applied by pressing on the skin) or mixed directly into your night cream.
Finding the ritual and products that suit us is not always easy, and it is essential to experiment, to listen to the skin, to learn to observe it well and to be guided by professionals from time to time to help us customize well. But I advise you to try this ritual for 4-6 weeks without trying other things to give your skin a chance to balance and strengthen. Keep us posted ! We love to hear your feedback...
Good hydration treatment! Love, C
