What causes dandruff and how to treat it?
Dandruff, whether dry or oily, is distinguished by its appearance. The first, common during seasonal changes, are fine and do not adhere to the scalp. Oily dandruff, more imposing, clumps on the scalp and is difficult to remove.
4 factors causing dandruff:
- Certain skin conditions , such as seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis.
- Malassezia, a natural fungus present in all scalps, which, in excess, accelerates cell renewal, leading to the formation of dandruff.
- A surplus of toxic products, such as silicone-rich shampoos that weigh down the hair and scalp, as well as synthetic hair coloring, gels, or styling mousses.
- A poor lifestyle , such as stress, alcohol and an unbalanced diet, creating an acidic and inflammatory environment.
Dandruff Treatment:
To resolve the problem at the source, the four points mentioned above must be addressed:
- First, eliminate toxic hair products by opting for clean ingredients.
- Then, choose a natural cleansing shampoo , avoiding “nutritives”, with a mild anti-dandruff active ingredient to avoid the rebound effect.
- Finally, eat an anti-inflammatory diet , including fresh pollen and propolis, and practice relaxation techniques.
Anti-dandruff shampoo: good or bad?
The majority of conventional anti-dandruff shampoos are very aggressive and “strip” more than anything else. The scalp reacts by producing even more sebum and new cells, causing a vicious cycle. These shampoos have a “bandage” effect but do not provide long-term treatment.
Instead, choose a 100% natural and organic anti-dandruff shampoo, ultra gentle, without silicones, without parabens, and without sodium laureth sulfate like our ORGANIC SANITIZING SHAMPOO (which also contains a natural anti-dandruff active ingredient).
Its active ingredients act in synergy to cleanse the scalp, treat dandruff and invigorate the hair.
