How to properly prepare your skin for the sun
Summer is comming ! If the sun is excellent for our mental health and is necessary in small doses for our health, intense exposure to UV rays is extremely harmful for our skin.
However, a few steps are enough to have stronger skin to properly combat these attacks. By following this routine, the skin will be healthier, and the tan will be softer and more even!
So how can you properly prepare your skin for summer? Here are our tips for making the transition smoothly, without rushing your skin...
1. We exfoliate our skin regularly!
To eliminate dead cells accumulated this winter, boost cell renewal (the basis of healthy skin) and tan harmoniously, we exfoliate twice a week... mechanical exfoliation (with our Gentle Facial Exfoliant) or chemical exfoliation (with our purifying and smoothing detox mask), it's up to you! Regular exfoliation during the summer will also help avoid the famous back-to-school rebound effect (and the surge of imperfections that accompanies it).
2. We hydrate your skin!
The more hydrated the skin is, the more resistant it will be to the sun.
For the body, we recommend our Dry Oil (which leaves no greasy film) or our Firming Body Treatment (which protects against skin aging, stimulates the synthesis of cellular tissues and prevents the degradation of elastin).
For the face, we opt for a moisturizing treatment adapted to our skin (but light enough not to suffocate the skin in summer), such as our Joli Teint Léger Treatment , or our Universal Anti-Aging Treatment .
Bonus: to illuminate your skin with a naturally golden and uniform tan, without sun and without health risks, opt for our Progressive Sunny Facial Treatment.
3. We prepare the skin for tanning with Urucum
Urcum is a plant from the tropical regions of South America, ultra-rich in carotenoids (100 times more than carrots!), this active ingredient prepares your skin for exposure to the sun. It stimulates the production of melanin, helps to strengthen the skin's protection against UV rays and brightens the complexion for a natural healthy glow.
Where to find it?
In the Soin Joli Teint Léger cream, our flagship “glow” treatment, in a fluid and light version. (If you have dry skin, opt for our slightly richer Joli Teint Velvet Effect Treatment ).
4. We focus on a diet rich in carotenoids!
Known to prepare the skin for the sun, carotenoids stimulate the production of melanin, responsible for skin pigmentation, and protect the skin from sun damage. To do this, we continue to take our daily dose of fresh pollen , very rich in carotenoids (choose FLORICIA , the richest in carotenoids). And we also favor foods with yellow-orange pigments, rich in beta-carotene: carrot, peppers, melon, mango, etc.
And of course, it is ESSENTIAL to protect yourself with SPF50+ sunscreen every two hours!
