What is propolis?
Propolis is a natural resinous substance collected by bees from various plant sources such as tree buds, barks and leaves. Bees use propolis to seal and disinfect their hive , protecting it from bacteria, fungi and viruses.
Propolis is composed of a complex combination of resins, waxes, aromatic compounds and bioactive substances such as flavonoids, phenolic acids and essential oils.

your most frequently asked questions
- Antioxidant : Propolis is the most antioxidant product in the world. Its antioxidant capacity, measured by the ORAC index, is estimated at 729,000 ORAC units (Trolox equivalent micromoles per 100g). It breaks all records for the most antioxidant foods (Goji 3,290, Cranberry 9,090, Goji berry 30,500, Turmeric powder 127,068, Cinnamon 131,420, Matcha tea 134,800…). Propolis contains numerous antioxidants: mainly polyphenols, but also vitamins C and E and trace elements (selenium, manganese, etc.) which are cofactors of antioxidant enzymes. The richer the propolis is in polyphenols, the higher its antioxidant activity. There are numerous in vivo studies showing that consuming propolis can significantly reduce oxidative damage in different organs (including the skin).
- Anti-inflammatory : Inflammation is a warning sign for most diseases, and the basis for the development of many skin diseases. An anti-inflammatory diet (without red meat, dairy products, sugars and alcohol) combined with taking propolis helps cleanse the body and reduce the skin response.
- Anti-bacterial : The broad-spectrum anti-bacterial activity of propolis is the most widely documented. Propolis inhibits bacterial growth.
- Anti-fungal : Propolis exerts a fungicidal activity against germs belonging to the Candida genus such as Candida Albicans, but also against Aspergillus and Mycrosporum type fungi as well as against yeasts.
- Immuno-modulator : Propolis strengthens immunity by modulating the activity of immune cells. Certain skin pathologies can be linked to deficient immunity (herpes viruses type I and II, fungal pathologies, etc.).
Please note, these therapeutic virtues of propolis depend first of all on its botanical origin (at Apicia: poplar propolis), then on the quality and quantity of the polyphenols it contains.
The protocols
As a reminder, 1 dose = 1 vial = 1 monodose = 2 capsules = 30 drops (dropper).
Caution, for children (3-15 years): choose alcohol-free vials or capsules and reduce all doses indicated in this protocol by two.
Take the capsules preferably at the end of meals, as they are or open them and mix them with compote or yogurt. If you have 6 capsules to take per day, take 2 in the morning, 2 at lunchtime and 2 in the evening.
To boost immune defenses, at the change of seasons or before leaving for a country with precarious living conditions: 1 dose per day for 20 days.
To treat naturally occurring infections (colds, flu, etc.): 3 doses per day - 1 in the morning, 1 at midday, 1 in the evening - from the appearance of the first symptoms and until they disappear.
To strengthen treatments for faster healing (covid...): 3 doses per day - 1 in the morning, 1 at midday, 1 in the evening - from the appearance of the first symptoms and until they disappear.
To treat certain skin problems, from the within: For acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis: 3 months of treatment at a rate of 1 dose per day. For herpes: 3 doses per day - 1 in the morning, 1 at midday, 1 in the evening - from the appearance of the first symptoms and until they disappear.
Most propolis on the market has a very low dose of active ingredients, contains unnecessary excipients, and is not qualified (the botanical or geographical origin is unknown).
On the contrary, our propolis meets the three essential criteria for effective propolis:
1. A clear botanical origin
At Apicia, our propolis comes from poplar. Beware of brands indicating “white propolis”, “black propolis”, without any reference to the real botanical origin.
2. A grid extraction mode
Most propolis on the market is scraping propolis, and therefore oxidized propolis, which has lost most of its active ingredients. At Apicia, our poplar propolis comes from harvests on grids - the only method guaranteeing quality propolis, fresh and concentrated in active ingredients.
3. A high concentration of polyphenols, the active ingredients of propolis
Propolis does not offer any health benefits if it is not sufficiently concentrated in polyphenols, its active ingredients. This criterion of polyphenol concentration is of capital importance. Avoid brands that do not specify the amount of polyphenols present in their propolis, as the reasons for this omission are obvious (this is unfortunately the case with most propolis on the market). At Apicia, our propolis has the highest polyphenol content on the market, with 95 mg of polyphenols per dose.
Our poplar propolis is guaranteed to contain 95 mg of total polyphenols per dose (the highest concentration on the market).
The polyphenol content is a fundamental criterion for the effectiveness of propolis.
It's up to you to choose the dosage form that suits you best, because they all contain the same concentration of active ingredients! 1 dose = 1 vial = 1 monodose = 2 capsules = 30 drops (dropper).

Absolutely ! It’s even recommended!
Fresh pollen is a superfood rich in essential micronutrients that support the proper functioning of the body and skin. Propolis, for its part, is an extraordinary food supplement with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and immunomodulatory properties.
These two products are complementary and act synergistically on the overall health of the body and the skin.
Yes !
For children aged 3 to 15, opt for alcohol-free vials or capsules, and divide all doses recommended in the protocols by two.
If your child has to take half a vial (to be taken as is or mixed in water or juice), you can keep the rest of the solution in a glass, as the aqueous propolis solution does not deteriorate in open air.
As for the capsules, you can open them and mix them in a compote or yogurt.
Yes absolutely!
The alcohol-free vials or capsules are ideal for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
We recommend doing regular treatments (especially if you frequently fall ill), and continuing after childbirth to maintain strong immune defenses during this tiring period, which often weakens the body.
